Jambati is the Nepali word for large and heaviest of the antique singing bowl family, and arguably the most beautiful. This bowl was established in the 16th or 18th century and was made mainly for ceremonial use. Dominant parts of Buddhist individuals utilized this bowl to store grain. A jambati bowl is a hand-beaten bowl. It’s planned in a U-bended shape and has a thick edge. However, the name designates a shape more than a size. The round-bottomed shape was made in a huge range of sizes. Most were made around 10.5 inches in diameter but the smallest is under 3 inches and their notes cover the entire chromatic scale from the 2nd to 4th octave when struck, sometimes higher when played around the rim with the deepest and strongest tones. Most jambati were made with shaped rims that cannot be reproduced today. Required hours of precision hammering, the workmanship is amazing.
They have wonderful resonant voices and long sustains and are very popular with collectors, healers, and sound therapists.
